Drake Talks Finishing High School & Being From Toronto
While Drake is preparing for OVO Fest 2012, NOW had the chance to interview him in which he talks about finishing high school and being from Toronto. Drake has said in the past that he hopes to one day be able to show his mom a high school diploma and he’s almost there! When he speaks about being from Toronto he tells NOW, “You talk about certain artists, and they sound like where they’re from. Myself and The Weeknd, we both just sound like Toronto.” Check out the interview below.
When you picture how Drake is spending his summer, you’re probably thinking of partying in VIP rooms with famous friends and sipping champagne on a tour bus. Turns out the truth is a lot less glamorous.
“I’m actually spending my summer graduating high school,” admits the rapper on a too-rare visit back home. “That’s my main focus after OVO Fest. I only have one credit left, and I’m really excited about that.”
It’s a particularly Canadian answer from a performer who’s somehow managed to turn all the nice and boring bits of our identity into a wildly successful hip-hop brand. Rival rappers can’t even successfully diss him for being soft, because he’s never bothered pretending to be hard. And as exciting as this city can be, we still tend to fear that we seem provincial compared to places like New York or London.
“As close as we are to New York, it still feels far removed. We feel far removed from that American celebrity lifestyle, and from that kind of success.”
But Drake isn’t so removed from that culture any more, although you get the sense sometimes he wishes he were. His people have made it very clear that we are not to ask any questions about Chris Brown and the club brawl in which he may or may not have been involved. Up until the very last minute it seemed pretty likely that the interview wouldn’t even happen.

Justin Bieber feat. Drake “Right Here” Named Stand Out Track On Believe Album
Justin Bieber’s Believe album release is just around the corner on June 19th. “Right Here” is on the album and features our boy Drake. MTV News got a chance to listen to theBelieve and they were able to name 5 stand out tracks from the album in which they included “Right Here”. Drake has no verse on this song and will be singing. After the jumpyou can find out what they had to say about the track. I’m definitely excited to hear it as I love Drake’s singing.

Drake and Bieber enter each other’s musical spaces for this sexy mid-tempo track. Drake doesn’t rap on it, opting instead to use his R&B flair and singing. The two guys, who certainly have shown their soft sides in the past, put them on full display when they let their special ladies know “I’m right here” on the chorus, later sharing emotions like “[I] promise to be all that you need.”

Drake To Star In Upcoming ‘Ice Age’ Film

Just like the late great Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Drake is for the kids.

It’s being reported the Canadian rap sensation will star in the fourth installment of the animated film Ice Age: Continental Drift. Drake joins a cast that includes Jennifer Lopez, Jeremy Renner, Aziz Ansari, and familiar faces Ray Romano, Queen Latifah, Denis Leary, John Leguizamo, Seann William Scott and Josh Peck.

“Continental Drift” is currently slated to hit theaters July 13, 2012. As of press time it is unknown what role Drake will play in the movie.

A few weeks back we caught up with Drake at the New Orleans leg of Lil Wayne’s “I Am Still Music” tour when the scruffy looking MC spoke on his new look.

During an unusual interview where correspondent Sway left his duties to Young Money first lady Nicki Minaj, the raptress questioned Drake’s latest appearance. Responding to Nicki, Drake revealed that it was for a film role. In January, it was reported that the former “Degrassi: The Next Generation” star was joining the cast of “Arbitrage,” which is set to star Susan Sarandon and Al Pacino. However, Drake relayed that he has “decided to work on my album instead of doing that particular film.”

Earlier this year it was revealed that Drake was being considered for a role in the film “Arbitrage” going back to his acting roots.

A spokesperson for producer Johnny Lin’s Filmula company confirmed back in January that Drake was in negotiations to join the financial thriller “Arbitrage.” The Wrap reported that the Young Money rapper was considering joining the cast of the indie film, which will be written and directed by Nicholas Jarecki (“The Outsider”).

Or maybe not.
